AL Central Baseball

The AL Central was easily one of the best divisions in baseball in the 2006 season. For far too long they were considered baseball's worst with the Royals and Tigers. But the Tigers are now considered one of the better teams. The AL Central has had the representative to the World Series for the American League over the past two seasons.

• AL Central teams were 241-208, +40 units against non-division rivalry opponents.

A key item to note is that the AL Central boasts a lot of great left handed pitchers. Because of this, they hit lefties outside of their division pretty well. They went 65-69, -13 units on the season against lefties. Overvalued against the moneyline by an average of 10 points.

They hit righties a lot better by going 176-139, +53 units but it is common to see teams that hit right handers well.

Do not expect much from the Tigers in the 2007 season. The White Sox won the world series in 2005 but where were they in 2006? The Indians were the cinderella team of 2005 but was more like sleeping beauty in 2006. Just like the Sox, these Tigers will mire down to mediocrity. Gary Sheffield is the wrong candidate for a team built on unity and togetherness. The Twins are the true team to beat in that division.
